You want to cast-on toe-up socks, but don't know how to?

Cat Bordhi was the one who showed me - I use this method every time:

A great tutorial!

Socks

Not much knitting these (moving)days, but I am knitting socks, slowly.

This is my Tropical Mer-Tini socks (Sockmadness 3):

SockMadness 3

Way to big for me. They are gifted to my hubby, the first handmade pair of socks from me (after 10 years together)!

Pattern: Tropical Mer-Tini by Ronni Smith
Needle: 2.5 mm (US 1 1/2)
Yarn: Zwerger Garn Opal Smoke, 70 gram (325 yards)
Mods: none

A new sock are now on my needle in this yarn:

Raggegarn

Mor Aase Raggegearn. I'm using the "Falkgarn socks" pattern.

Merino socks

This is my new pink socks:

Pink socks

The yarn was a gift from Karipia, my very first socks in merino wool - so soft and just a joy to knit.

Look at the beautiful pattern:

Pink socks

Free pattern: Lakehouse socks (Ravelry link)
Yarn: Eddagarn by Viking of Norway, 100% Merino wool, 75g (300 yards)
Needles: US 1½ / 2.5 mm

About the pattern: This was not a very easy pattern. I had some difficulties with the start of the pattern at the foot and again with getting the pattern right after the heel, but I did it and the result is beautiful.

Happy knitting!

Smart socks

I've knitted socks again.

Smart socks

Inspired by Wendy of Wendy Knits! I've knitted a toe-up sock with gusset increases on the bottom of the foot instead of on the sides.

Gusset:

Last minute gift

I made a last minute gift for my son, since he loved my Falkgarn socks.

Knitted socks

Just a 2x2 rib this time, but the rest of the pattern is the same.

Knitted socks

I hope he will be happy with the result. :)

Thanks again to Marianne G for gifting me the yarn. *hugs*

Socks from gifted yarn (with instructions)

Falkgarn socks

Finally something knitted to show of:

Socks

Yarn: Falkgarn Sport, 114g (190 yards) (Sport/DK weight)
Needle: 4 mm
Size: Slim
Need to know: Magic Cast-on, (Magic loop), Toe-up, short row heel.

Pattern (sort of)

Cast on 20 sts using Magic cast-on.
Knit 1 round
Increase 4 sts every second round, until 36 sts.
Knit 1 round, divide your sts 17/19 if you are using Magic loop or two needles.

Round 1: k1, (p3, k3)x2, p3, k1(foot), k the rest of the sts (sole).
Round 2: (k1, p1)x8, k1 (foot), k the rest of the sts (sole).

Repeat round 1 and 2 until 2 inches less then the lenght of the foot.

Work a short row heel (9 sts unworked in the middle).

Socks

Continue knitting the pattern round (adjust your sts).

Round 1: (k3, p3)x 6
Round 2: (k1, p1)x 18

for as long as you like.

Finish of by knitting 5 rounds 1x1 rib, cast off loosely.
