Beginners Reversible Scarf

Beginners Reversible Scarf
by turvid

This pattern makes an easy reversible beginner scarf.
An opportunity to use that fingering weight wool, perhaps some of your sock yarn, sport weight yarn or DK weight.

Materials:

For a sport weight yarn: About 50-100 g  (200-400 yards) depending on what size you would like.

Needles: 6 mm (US 10).

Gauge (not important): 10 sts  = 5 cm (2 inches) in pattern.
Use bigger needles than the yarn usually calls for.

Skill level: Easy

Note: This will make an (unblocked) width of about 13 cm (about 5 inches). To increase the width: add 3 or more stitches, dividable with 3. The scarf is very stretchy due to the ribbing, but you could use a bigger/smaller needle size, thicker/thinner yarn or adjust the stitch count to get a different size.

Finished scarf: I used 50 g (200 yards) of a wool/acrylic sport weight yarn. The scarf is about 12 x 130 cm (5 x 50 inches) unblocked, and it's very stretchy in both width and length.

Pattern:

Cast on 28 sts using a cabled cast-on, or the cast-on you prefer.

All rows: K2, (K2, P1) repeat between ( ) 8 times, K2

Repeat this row until your scarf is at desired length.

Cast off loosely, keeping in pattern.

Finishing:
Weave in all ends.
Block if you want to.

If you make this scarf please let me know!  I would love to see what you have created.

I'll take you a year back. This is Fiona and my tiny niece that is now past a year old (in the picture she is a few months):
